Joan's Story...

I bought a ticket, actually a few tickets. The Venture Club from our church, Wildwood Mennonite Church, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was having a raffle of a quilt they had made. The directors, Debbie and Gerry Unrau, together with some volunteers and mostly the children, sewed a beautiful quilt. I felt it an honor to purchase tickets and thus contribute towards the project that the children had chosen. They wished to help the children in the Sudan. I won the quilt! It was a very exciting feeling for me and for the children. I took it home and put my “win” in a visible place where I could enjoy and “love” it. It reminded me of our church children and what amazing things they could accomplish regardless of their ages. It also reminded me of the children in the Sudan who might receive their help. Could the money this quilt raffle raised be increased? I really didn’t need another quilt and nor did my children or grandchildren. When I had loved my bright sunshiny quilt long enough, I called Debbie and the children to see if they could think of any way this project could continue.
