Jim's Story...

When I was a child I always enjoyed going to our church auctions in Leamington, Ontario. People bid high amounts for a loaf of bread or half bushel of apples; not because they were of great value but because they wanted to give for the mission of our church and church school. Supporting auctions was a fun way to give generously. My father collected many quilts at our church auctions. He never used many of them but he enjoyed the bidding. When I came to the MCC sale in Saskatoon I thought of the fun my father used to have at auctions. [ He died this past April.] I looked at the quilts at the sale and realized that most would not suit the decorations in our home. But I still wanted to buy a quilt. When the quilt from the Wildwood MC’s children came up for auction I saw the perfect solution: enjoy the fun of buying a quilt and also enjoy giving it away so that it could continue to raise funds to help children through MCC. As a stewardship consultant for Mennonite Foundation of Canada I appreciate Wildwood’s efforts to promote generosity in such a fun and creative way. Blessings to your group.
